Last week, I got a chance to participate in the radiothon for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
This is an annual event by the Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority, and it was hosted on 100.9 ALEX FM last week. The sorority raised $18,000 last year, and it appears like they raised at least that much this year.
One of the unique aspects of this year’s fundraising event was a visit by country recording artist Addie Paige Pratt. She has released a single titled “The Woman That I Am.”
It tells the story of her life. I got a chance to visit with her between segments of the radiothon. She is a cancer survivor herself, and she is a success story of St. Jude.
She showed me a photo of her going through her treatments, and I am happy to say that she is happy and healthy now.
I enjoyed visiting with her. I feel like she is destined for greatness in the music scene.
But it’s really amazing to me to hear about how much St. Jude does for so many across the country and around the world. The families of the patients never have to pay a dime for their treatments.
And with the way the costs in the medical community continue to rise, it is a blessing for Addie’s family and many others like hers.
I’d like to say thank you to Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, ALEX FM and others who participated in this. Everyone involved with this fundraiser are the best kinds of people. It was fun getting to sit in on it for a few minutes.
I only came by during the final hour, but there were others working on it all day long. So I cannot take any credit for their hard work.
If you have the means to help, please consider it. If not, help in whatever way you can with this or any other good cause in our community. Every little bit helps.
