Demopolis splits with Thomasville, Hale County

The Demopolis Lady Tiger softball team rebounded from a 7-2 loss with Thomasville with a 10-0 win over Hale County on Thursday.
The Lady Tigers improved to 8-16 overall. They will host Jemison on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. before playing in a weekend tournament. They will travel to American Christian on Tuesday at 4:#0 p.m.
Demopolis 10, Hale County 0
Maddie Grace Teel went 4-for-4 against Hale County to lead the Tiger attack. She drove in a run and scored twice.
Allie Hughes and Caroline Hathcock were also 2-for-3. Hughes finished with three RBIs while Hathcock had a double, a run and an RBI. Olivia Lindsay added doubles with a run while Elleigh Dossett, Jadie Hasty, Lily Turberville and Lizzie Thornton rounded out the hits.
Hughes pitched a five-inning shutout scattering five hits and three walks while racking up nine strikeouts.
Demopolis scored two runs in each of the first, third and fourth innings before erupting for four in the fifth inning to close out the mercy-rule win.
Turberville also had four stolen bases while Teel stole three bases. Annagayle Aultman, Lindsay and Dossett each had two steals.
Demopolis 2, Thomasville 7
Thomasville scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break open a pitcher’s duel. Five Tiger errors also led to six unearned runs.
Hits were hard to come by for either team as they combined for just seven combined hits. Demopolis players getting a hit included Lily Turberville, Olivia Lindsay, Caroline Hathcock and Elliegh Dossett.
Demopolis fell behind 2-0 in the first inning but battled back to tie the game in the fifth inning. Jadie Hasty reached on an error to score Annagayle Aultman for the first run. Turberville grounded out to score Hasty.
Thomasville got the lead back in the bottom of the fifth inning before putting the game away with four runs in the sixth inning.
Aultman took the loss allowing three unearned runs on no hits and four walks with two strikeouts in three innings. Teel allowed four runs, only one earned, on three hits and three walks.
