Last year, I got my first taste of Demopolis’ Rooster Day festival.
It was one of the best festivals I have attended over my years in the business. This time of year, the weather can do anything, but last year, they did everything right to get one of our 14 perfect days during the year. What I mean by that is the high temperatures are in the 70s. The humidity is low. There are very few clouds, if any, and the wind is almost calm but blowing enough to keep you cool.
It looks like we might have good weather again this Saturday if the weather forecasts verify. While the weather isn’t something you can control, Rooster Day is bound to be a success this year regardless of the weather.
You can expect to see a lot of vendors out there. Some are local vendors. Others come in from surrounding areas.
You can bet there will be anything from “Respect the Polygon” woodworking designs to soaps, jellies and other products that were all produced in their kitchens, otherwise known as the home laboratory.
A good festival isn’t successful without good food, and Demopolis will have a lot of good food options. Each of them seemed like they always had a line or stayed busy all day.
And the entertainment will be good as well. There will be a lot of home-grown talent on display.
One other bonus is that the downtown businesses will likely stay open for the event. That adds on to the success of bringing more business, which leads to more revenue for the city.
I am hopeful that the festival will have just as much success as it did last year. I hope you will all come out this weekend and support it!
