York gallery to feature interactive workshop, exhibition

The Altman Riddick Museum Gallery will present an art exhibition titled “The Bergamot Crown” Fusing Ancestry/ Crafting Continuum Works: by Doriette Jordan and artist workshop this week. 

The gallery has located at 630 Avenue A in York. The art exhibition’s artist talk and opening reception will be Friday, April 25 at 5:30 p.m. An interactive artist workshop will be Saturday, April 26, from 5-7 p.m.

Rooted in love and legacy, “The Bergamot Crown” is a multifaceted exhibition that honors the stories of my ancestors while celebrating the cultural significance of hair as a connection to identity and heritage. Through vibrant art pieces, interactive stations and collected hair stories from the community, the exhibition invites you to explore legacy, resilience, and self-expression themes.

This is part of the Artist in Residency program at the Coleman Center for the Arts. The artist wil reside at the Inda Hightower Artist In Residence Facility, operated by the Coleman Center for the Arts.

The building was a former bank that has been transformed into a three-bedroom, one-bathroom residence, complete with a full kitchen, washer/dryer and an artist workspace.
