Lawsuit filed for wrongful death of Sumter resident, State Trooper Daryl Wayne Brown

Daryl Wayne Brown Sr. was killed while on his way to work on August 8, 2024, on Interstate 20/59. According to the lawsuit filing, Brown’s vehicle was initially struck by an intoxicated driver allegedly traveling 104 miles per hour. An 18-wheeler then collided with Brown’s vehicle, killing him instantly.
Mr. Brown was a resident of Sumter County, and served over 28 years as an Alabama State Trooper. At the time of his death, Mr. Brown was a member of the security team at the Richard Shelby Federal Building and Courthouse in Tuscaloosa.
Mr. Brown’s family is represented by Tuscaloosa attorneys Josh Hayes and Blake Williams of
Prince Glover Hayes. The Brown Complaint was filed on Friday, April 25, 2025, in Tuscaloosa
County Circuit Court. As soon as the Defendants are served with the Complaint, discovery will
proceed pursuant to the Alabama Rules of Civil Procedure.
