Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Monica King welcomed a crowd of local business owners outside of City Hall on Monday morning. 

“Small businesses are the backbone of our community and they play a vital role in our economy and enrich the unique character of Demopolis,” King said as she introduced Mayor Woody Collins.

“I want to mention the relationship between the Chamber and the small businesses,” the Mayor said in his opening remarks, “If it weren’t for the small businesses there’d be no Chamber, and if it weren’t for the Chamber, the small businesses would suffer.”

Mayor Collins then read and signed the proclamation from the Mayor’s Office establishing May fourth through tenth as Small Business Week in the city of Demopolis.

“Thank you all so much for supporting local small businesses, and what they bring to us,” Collins said, “Without them, Demopolis would not be Demopolis.”
