Demopolis’s own Whitfield Regional Hospital is one of only eight hospitals in Alabama to receive a 5-star cleanliness rating, according to Becker’s Hospital Review. 

Using data compiled from surveys through the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS), Becker’s ranked 374 hospitals across the nation at the top level. 

HCAHPS uses a national, standardized survey of hospital patients, inquiring about their experience during recent inpatient hospital stays. The surveys were completed between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024, with data most recently updated Jan. 8. 

The state with the most 5-star rated hospitals for cleanliness was Wisconsin with 30.
