Charles B. “Charlie” Watts III, age 78, passed away peacefully on May 12, surrounded by his loving family. 

A longtime resident of Demopolis, Alabama, Charlie later made his home in Lillian, Alabama. Born on August 11, 1946, in Demopolis to Charles B. Watts Jr. and Dorothy Watts, Charlie lived a life marked by service, laughter, and adventure. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam War veteran. Following his military service, he worked with Petrolane and AmeriGas, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. 

Charlie was cherished for his adventurous spirit, quick wit, and kind heart. He never met a stranger and was always ready with a smile and a joke. He had a passion for flying airplanes, race car driving, and barbecuing-his ribs were legendary among family and friends. Charlie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry Watts; his children, Charles B. Watts IV (Susan), Sonja Pelot (Angie), Chase Watts, Wesley Watts (Kristi), Miranda Hanna and Cash McGraw; as well as six grandchildren who brought him great joy. Charlie is also survived by his sisters, Helen Arnold and Margie Whitehorse.

Graveside funeral services were held at Riverside Cemetery in Demopolis, AL on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Thomas Fletcher officiating.
