On June 1, as part of their First Sunday of the Month program, the Eastern Star Baptist Church on 3rd Avenue in Demopolis honored three strong women:

Gwendolyn Williams received the 2025 Exceptional Young Christian Woman award.

Willie L. Patterson Dillard received the 2025 Valiant Woman of Faith award.

Tameko Johnson received the 2025 Woman of the Year award.

“The church proudly shines a spotlight on these three phenomenal women whose strength, grace, and impact continue to inspire us all,” Pastor Reverend Terry Gosa commented. “Each of these ladies reflects the beauty of Proverbs 31. ‘She is cloth, with strength and dignity. She can laugh at the days to come.’ Thank all of you ladies for being examples of excellence, encouragement, and empowerment. Congratulations to these women of God.”
