A Forkland man was killed early Sunday morning in a crash in Marengo County.
Carl Fitzgerald Johnson, 25, was killed when the 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene, according to information provided by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Officials said the single-vehicle crash occurred at 3:45 a.m. on U.S. 43 near the 107 mile marker, approximately 15 miles south of Linden.
Preliminary investigation indicates that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, according to ALEA. Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate the incident.
