Georgia Pacific plant teams with Convoy of Hope for flood relief
Georgia-Pacific’s Naheola Mill in Pennington on Thursday, August 18, welcomed a truck from the disaster relief organization Convoy of Hope. The mill filled the truck with supplies to be used in relief efforts for flooding victims in Louisiana.
The Naheola Mill’s spokesperson, Tim Chatlos said paper products are among the items needed.
“Those displaced from their homes as well as first responders need paper products and the Naheola Mill is proud to be part of that relief effort,” Chatlos said.
The mill loaded the semi with 1,080 cases of Angel Soft toilet tissue to aid in the rescue efforts in Louisiana. That equals more than 4,000 two-roll packages similar to the type you buy in a grocery store.
“Our hearts go out to all those affected by this natural disaster. Some of our employees are among those affected by the flooding in Louisiana,” Chatlos said. “We are all saddened by the loss and devastation caused by the recent flooding in Louisiana. GP has partnered with the disaster relief organization Convoy of Hope (COH) to work with FEMA and other organizations to supply what’s most needed on the ground and determine where to deliver. Multiple pallets of GP bath tissue and paper towels are on the way through COH, and more are being shipped out daily. Additional planning is also underway to decide how we can most effectively help affected employees, their families and neighbors in need.”
