There will be lots of fall fun to be had on Wednesday night as a group of local churches come together to host their annual Harvest Festival.
The Third Annual Demopolis Harvest Festival will be held Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at George Franks Field at the City Landing. It is a free event open to the public for children 12 years old and younger and their families.
The festival is hosted by local churches: Church Aflame, Fairhaven Baptist Church, First Baptist Church, First United Methodist Church, Rangeline Baptist Church and Saints Tabernacle Church of God in Christ.
“This event began with the Blackbelt Christian Ministerial Association when those churches wanted to get together and do something fun for the community,” said Jennifer Jordan, one of the organizers of the event. “Everyone had a great time that first year and other churches began to get involved allowing us to continue doing it.”
The event will feature games, cartoon characters, inflatables, trunk-or-treating, food and more. Jordan said most of the items needed are donated by local businesses and other organizations. The churches do pay for inflatables. The Demopolis Police Department will also be on hand with the Mobile Command Unit.
“It’s a great opportunity for the churches. Even though we are not the same denomination, it is a great experience working together for the good of our community,” Jordan said. “We would love to see this event grow and involve even more churches and organization. It’s a lot of fun working together and seeing people enjoy the festival.”
