Two Demopolis residents, a teenager and a 60-year-old, were killed this week in separate vehicle accidents.
Milando Willie Denzel Merriweather, 19, and a 2016 graduate of Demopolis High School, was killed at 12:45 a.m. on Friday.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Merriweather’s 1997 Ford Ranger was traveling on State Hwy. 69, near the 114 mile marker, about four miles north of Greensboro, when the vehicle left the road and overturned. Officials said in a press release that Merriweather was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a separtate incident, Harold Lee Johnson, 60, was killed in a single-vehicle crash at 2:45 p.m. Thursday.
Johnson was a passenger in a 1993 GMC pick-up truck that was traveling on U.S. Hwy. 43, approximately three miles south of Demopolis, when the vehicle left the roadway and overturned, according to an ALEA press release. Two others, including the driver, Glenn Lewis, 51, were injured and transported to the local hospital.
Officials said Johnson was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
ALEA said nothing further was available on the accidents as they continue to investigate.
