Thomaston gears up for Pepper Jelly Festival

There will be fun for all ages in Thomaston Saturday as the Alabama Rural Heritage Center hosts its annual Pepper Jelly Festival.

The event will feature food, arts and crafts, an assortment of vendors, as well as a variety of entertainment.

Visitors to the festival will also be treated to a variety of demonstrations, including chair caning, basket weaving, quilting, tatting, arrow heads, and more.

This year’s entertainment stage will feature five entertainers and groups. Rebecca Vick of Grove Hill is part of the music ministry at Riverview Baptist Church in Millers Ferry, Alabama and specializes in classic country favorites.

Trey Webb is a resident of Molino, Florida and will perform gospel music.

The Glory Road Quartet is a southern gospel music group from Thomasville and features singers from other popular groups, such as The Centurions and The Revelators. Members include Jimmy Dement, Daryl Dement, Tracy Newton, Brian Starks, Wes Starks, Danny Joe Beach, Zach LeNoir, Buck Jordan, and Kaye Morgan.

Robert Hunter is a musician and author known for his unique brand of lyrical alternative country-rock. His first two EPs were celebrated critically and found airtime on FM radio.

Rounding out the day’s entertainment is Woodgrain Revival that plays original gospel and folk string music. Members include Josh Gill, Judah Gill, and Mike Pope.

The Pepper Jelly Festival kicks off at 10 a.m. on the grounds of the Old Marengo County High School and continues through 3 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.
