Demopolis High School (6-0, 4-0) will host Sumter Central (1-5, 0-4) for their homecoming game this weekend.

Coach Tom Causey said that homecoming week is tough for any team because of all of the distractions, but he feels his team can overcome that.

“Homecoming is always tough, no matter who you are,” he said, “but if our leadership on this team is where I think it is, it shouldn’t be a distraction.”

He added that, even though their opponents’ record does not reflect a good season, they are a very tough, physical football team.

“We have to focus on lining up right defensively and getting our hats in the right place because they are going to run down hill on us,” he said. “We’re going to have to load the box to stop the run, but also get back in coverage.”

He said offensively, they have to eliminate bad penalties that end up being drive-killers.

“Last week, we made some mistakes that killed drives,” Causey said, “and we can’t do that if we expect to keep winning.”
