Fred Whitfield Duke, 64, of Gallion died Wednesday, Jan. 30 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. He was born Oct. 17, 1948, in Gallion. He was the owner of Linden Express Lube for 17 years. He attended the Bible Chapel Church and was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ruth Lawrence Duke, and his brother, Larry Duke.

He is survived by his wife, Louise ╥Bunny╙ Duke of Gallion; two sons, Terry Duke and Karl Duke, both of Murfeesboro, Tenn.; daughter, Lisa (Keith) Hudson of Jackson; father, Clint ╥Pete╙ Duke of Gallion; brother, Johnny (Sara) Duke of Gallion; two sisters, Liz (Erwin) Bagley of Springhill and Tina (Wayne) Allen of Deatsville; and seven grandchildren, Brittany, Taylor, Mary, Victoria, Terry Jr., William and Mason.

Funeral services were held at O╒Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Sunday, Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Warren Huggins officiating. Burial was at Linden Memorial Park in Linden.

Active pallbearers were Thomas Etheridge, Tyler Henson, David Yarbrough, Todd Gunter, Phillip Farmer and Donnie Barrineau.

Honorary pallbearers were past and present employees of Linden Express Lube, friend and neighbors of the Providence community.

Memorials may be made to the donor╒s favorite charity.
