Mary Frances Howerton, 81, of Gallion, died Sept. 5 at her home. She was born Oct. 16, 1931, in Jackson, Miss.

She was a former licensed practical nurse and a member of the Linden United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her sons, Rick Howerton of Spokane, Wash., Bob Howerton of Demopolis, Charles (Tracey) Howerton of Gallion; daughter, Connie Hillard of New Orleans, La.; sister, Rosalee Ashley of Vicksburg, Miss.; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Linden United Methodist Church on Monday, Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Tony Antonelli officiating. Burial was at Linden Memorial Park in Linden.

Active pallbearers were Cole McClure, Andy Howerton, Bobby Howerton, Josh Kerrigan, Rob Carlisle and Tyler Howerton.
