James Fred Mayton Jr., 89, of Demopolis passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3 at Woodhaven Nursing Home.

He was born April 23, 1924, in Myrtlewood to the late Fred Mayton Sr. and Lois Pritchett Mayton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Mayton Sr. and Lois Pritchett Mayton; and his wife, Reba C. Mayton.

He is survived by his daughter, Jayne (Paul) Wilkinson; sons, James Fred (Mary) Mayton III, Robert Frank (Margie) Mayton, John Walter (Wanda) Mayton, Thomas Compton (Linda) Mayton and William Davis Mayton; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Thursday, Dec. 5 at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Scott officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel directing. Visitation was held Wednesday, Dec. 4 from 6-8 p.m.
