Cecil Abner Stephens

Cecil Abner Stephens, 87, of Greene County died Friday, Dec. 20 at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

He was born Aug. 27, 1926, in Greene County to the late Dave and Pearl McCool Stephens. He was a 1944 graduate of Greene County High School and was a World War II Navy veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Pearl McCool Stephens; wife, Dorothy Jean Richards Stephens; son, Cecil Abner Stephens Jr.; second wife, Frances Hollingsworth Stephens; and third wife, Ola Mae Wilson Stephens.

He is survived by his daughter, Dorothy Ann Stephens (Gary) McGalliard of Eutaw; step-daughters, Patricia Hollingsworth (Steve) Hester of Brent, Betty Sue Wilson McCaa of Eutaw, Bessie Mae Wilson (Berbert) Malone of Gulf Shores, Karen Wilson (Allen) Lashley of Demopolis and Linda Wilson (Charlie) Glass of Demopolis; stepson, Dennis (Lynn) Hollingsworth of Pleasant Ridge; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and sister, Virginia Stephens (Andrew) Wright of Aliceville.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 23 at Pleasant Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. with William Haven Betts officiating. Burial will follow at Mesopotamia Cemetery in Eutaw.

Pallbearers will be William Cody Stephens, Johnathon Wayne Stephens, Austin Langham, Allen Lashley, Herbert Malone and Charlie Glass.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Cotton, Greg Espy, Homer Carpenter Jr. and all employees of the Eutaw District Black Warrior Electric.
