Glenwood Eugene Pitts

Glenwood Eugene Pitts, of Dadeville, formerly of Selma, died Thursday, January 31, 2002.

Graveside services were held on Saturday, February 2, 2002, at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma with Langley Funeral Home of Camp Hill directing.

Mr. Pitts was honorably discharged from the United States Navy following World War II. He attended and graduated from Auburn University.

In his professional career he served as an executive in the apparel industry and had its roots in his first position in Monroeville, as a management trainee.

His career spanned four decades, several states, and places as far away as Costa Rica, Mauritius and Hong Kong.

He and Mrs. Pitts retired to Stillwaters where he was an active member of the community, as well as a golfer, gardener, and an avid reader of history.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clelle Smith Pitts and Henry E. Pitts; a brother, Henry "Billy" E. Pitts Jr.; a grandson, Brian Pitts.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Thelma West Pitts; four children, Toni Pitts Skipper, Ronald E. Pitts, Michael W. Pitts and Stephen A. Pitts; eight grandchildren, Tara Skipper, Kevin Maxwell and Katie Pitts, Becky and Wesley Pitts, and Phillip and Steven Pitts; a great-granddaughter, Dinah McCahan; two sisters, Doris Pitts Boggs and Martha Pitts Yawn.
