Tigers prepare for the playoffs

The Tigers traveled to Prattville on Saturday and came away on the short end of a 7-0 against Prattville in the first of two games that the Tigers would play that day.

DHS could muster only two hits against tough Prattville pitching. Clint Moody had a single and Dustin Goodwin had a double.

DHS bats came to life in the second game, however, as the Tiger posted a 6-5 victory over the Falcons of Central High School of Tuscaloosa.

Devin Goodwin led the way at the plate for the contest going 3-4 with three RBI’s. Everyone else in the lineup had at least one hit, including, Matt Chambless, Bart Pettus, Brett Pettus, Clint Moody, Reed Nixon, Freddy Padilla, Jonathon Sommers and dustin Goodwin.

The winning pitcher in the game was Devin Goodwin. He pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up six hit and striking out five. "I was very pleased with his performance," Moody said.

Another bright spot for the Tigers was John Lewis who came into the game with the tying run on second base in the sixth inning. He pitched 1 2/3 innings, giving up one hit while striking out three and earning the save.

The next game is Friday at Hillcrest at 4:30 pm. and then a Saturday doubleheader against Greensboro that starts at noon.

DHS will open the playoffs at home on April 24 against the Eufaula, Carroll Ozark and Charles Henderson runner-up. A time has yet to be determined.
