outboard motor jumped into the boat and cut Shawn Prisock above the knee and fractured his kneecap.

The boat was approximately a mile off shore. Steven Prisock swam to shore and flagged down local motorist Jimmy Marlowe for help at approximately 3 p.m. Marlowe called 911.

Demopolis police and fire responded; however, a boat was not readily available for rescue.

The boys’ father, Mack Prisock, swam out to the boat and tried to hand paddle it back to shore.

The police borrowed a boat from a neighbor, said Mack Prisock, and the boys’ boat was pulled to shore.

Shawn Prisock was transported by ambulance to Bryan W. Whitfield Hospital, and a neighbor, Bernice Witherspoon said he was then transferred to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.

His cut was sewed up, and his fractured knee cap was being attended to, Witherspoon said.

Shawn Prisock remains a patient at DCH Regional Center.
