46 people arrested at Crawfish Festival

Appoximately 63 criminal cases involved participants in the annual Alabama Crawfish Festival April 11 and 12 in Faunsdale.
There were 46 defendants, according to information from the Marengo County Sheriff’s Department. Seventeen defendants were arrested for two or more crimes.
The majority of the arrests involved a minor in possession of an alcoholic beverage (19), disorderly conduct (10) and an open container in a vehicle (9).
Forty law enforcement officers including county deputies, Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board Enforcement and police from neighboring municipalities patrolled the immediate area during the two-day festival.
The number of arrests is up from a total of 37 from 2002, the sheriff’s department reported.
