Saturday morning, Sonny Cameron awoke to a bit of a surprise.

Cameron, who is part owner of Pruitt’s grocery store as well as Sonny’s Barbeque on Highway 80, walking outside the store, saw that the store’s $6000 utility trailer grill was missing, along with a $50 light stand.

The utility trailer grill is used to cook Sonny’s Barbeque.

Cameron said he immediately contacted police to let them know that the incident had happened.

Demopolis Police Chief Charles Avery said that the incident probably occurred sometime around 9:20 p.m. the night before.

They may have lost the trailer grill, but that didn’t stop Cameron from keeping up regular service of his barbeque.

Cameron managed to borrow another trailer grill in order keep serving barbeque.

Avery said police responded to the call early Saturday morning at approximately 5 a.m.

Avery said that the area behind the grocery store was well lit, and that there was not too much more than could have been done to save the utility trailer grill from being stolen, other than securing it a little better.

Avery said that there were no witnesses to the crime, and that the stolen property had not been recovered.
