Coach disappointed with behavior

Dear Editor:

Some of the John Essex Hornets showed poor sportsmanship at the end of the football game at Sweet Water High School last Friday night. I never expected it and cannot even imagine why they would do such a thing.

I have always tried to instill in my team good sportsmanship and good character, for being a professional player once myself; I know how important it is. But, for some reason, my team seemed to have forgotten all that they have been taught on that night.

I apologize for their behavior. I know that it frightened some people and it was certainly not the show the public came out to see.

I know that the public image is important. They are our fans. They support us. We are deeply sorry for our disappointment to them.

I have spoken to my team and helped them to understand that what they did was wrong.

Please know that the Hornets will never display poor sportsmanship again.

Sincerely,

Pierre Goode
