This week the WAP Titans traveled to Selma for the Central Christian Academy 2003 Basketball Tournament still looking for their first win this season.

The two-day tournament got under way on Monday night as the WAP varsity boys went up against Central Christian. After trailing 38-14 at the half the Titans bounced back in the second half, outscoring the Warriors 28-to-21. But in the end the Titans’ efforts fell short with a 59-42 loss. Senior point guard Kevin may lead the way for the Titans with nine points. Shane Hilchey also gathered nine points on he night, while josh Stevenson followed with seven points.

The WAP varsity girls also attended the tournament and took on Central Christian in the early game on Monday night. After losing 69-12 last weeks to Patrician Academy, the WAP girls showed promise on Monday night but still game up short, as they fell 31-19 to the Warriors. Stephanie Horne was the only WAP standout with eight points on the night.

On Tuesday night it was more of the same for the Titans as the boys fell to South Montgomery Academy 52-34, while the girls fell to Shelby Academy 38-20. For the boys it was Joe Magro leading the way with 16 points, while Jan Jennings followed with eight points. And for the girls it was Samantha Sullivan who led for the Titans with 10 points.

Both the varsity boys and girls are off to a rough start this season at 0-4 but hopefully things will turn around for the Titans when they return home tonight for a rematch with Sumter Academy.
