Sumter Academy defeats Patrician

The Sumter Academy Eagles defeated the Patrician Academy Saints 69-51 in boys’ basketball on Tuesday night.

The Eagles totally dominated the Saints in this match-up from start to finish.

The Eagles took an early first quarter lead 22-11 thanks to the shooting of Michael Truelove who led the Eagles in scoring with 25 points. The Eagles continued the domination into halftime leading the Saints 33-23. The Eagles owned the glass and their team defense was extremely good.

At the beginning of the third quarter, the Eagles let the Saints back into the game thanks to the scoring of Abate who ended up with 22 points overall. But, by the end of the third heading to the fourth the Eagles had regained their ten-point lead and even extended it twelve leading 54-42.

The Saints tired to stop the scoring of the Eagles, but their defense just didn’t answer the call. The Eagles scored another 15 points in the fourth quarter to win the game 69-51. The Eagles also had two more players in double digits with Chad Bryan scoring 14 points and Jordy Hayden with 11 points.

Sumter Academy will travel to face Pickens Academy Friday night.
