Turnovers have been the name of the game when it comes to the Demopolis High School boy’s varsity basketball team. The Tigers have collected 58 turnovers in their last two games and have dropped from an impressive (5-1) mark just over a week ago to a mere (6-4) this week.
The Tigers dropped their third consecutive game when they traveled to Bibb County Tuesday night 57-56. According to head coach Jesse Bell there was no excuse for the loss other than being careless with the ball. “Thirty-three turnovers in a game is ridicules. Lately it seems like we just give the ball away,” Bell said.
Lequintin Lomax led the way for the Tigers with 26 points and seven rebounds, while G.W. Washington followed with 16 points, five steals and two assist. The Tigers shot 75 percent from the line against the purple and gold Choctaws, the best they have shot all season. But as impressive as the stats are for the Tigers, they still loss the game.
If the Tigers continue to play this way and give the ball away come tonight when they host the Greene County Tigers, they might as well give away their playoffs hopes as well.
