Marion – The Marion Military Institute Tigers used a balanced scoring attack to defeat the slumping West Alabama Prep Titans 63 – 24 Friday night. “We had fun tonight”, said Tiger coach Michelle Ivey. “Everyone played and everyone also scored. It’s a small reward for the bench players who have worked so hard all season”.

The Tigers raced to an early first quarter lead and never looked back. The Titans, meanwhile, were never able to produce any offense until the final quarter, where they were able to collect 11 points.

With things looking bleak, trailing by the score of 37 – 10 at the half, WAP coach Derrick Morrison decided to go to his bench for help.

Two minutes later, Ivey as well sat down her starters and emptied the MMI bench. But even with the changes, the Tigers outscored the Titans 26 – 14 in the second half.

Leading the way for the Tigers was B. Mitchell with 12 points and 8 rebounds, while

J. Smith collected 12 as well and D. Coleman dropped in 7 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. For the Titans it was Roland Biggs leading the way with 6 points.
