Evans scores 16 as UWA wins again

LIVINGSTON, AL- Tausha Evans had a game-high 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting while grabbing six rebounds, as the Tigers defeated Montevallo (5-15, 2-5) 60-50 on Saturday in Pruitt Hall to improve to 6-1 in Gulf South Conference play.

West Alabama struggled offensively in the first half making only 8-of-27 shots (29.6 percent), as Montevallo held on to a 30-25 lead at intermission. The Tigers would bounce back to outscore the Lady Falcons 35-20 in the second half and improve to 3-0 in the GSC at home.

Veronica Lee had 11 points, five rebounds and four assists for UWA, while teammate Margo Porter added 10 points and three steals. Yolanda Thomas led the Tigers with nine rebounds to go along with four points, two blocks and three steals. Nikki Jones contributed nine points and five rebounds for West Alabama.

Brandi Roberts led the Lady Falcons with 13 points and eight rebounds. Shea Panter had 12 points and seven rebounds for Montevallo, while teammate Monique Street added nine points and eight rebounds.

The Tigers (14-5, 6-1) return to action on Saturday when they travel to Alabama-Huntsville for a 5:00 p.m. tip off.
