The 15-4 Demopolis High School Lady Tigers outscored the visiting Lady Hornets of Dallas County 30-12 in the second half to coast to an easy 54-36 win Thursday night.
The Lady Tigers allowed the visiting Lady Hornets to hang around throughout two periods of play before pulling out their fly swatter and crushing the Lady Hornets with impressive play in the third period.
“We were able to get out into their passing lanes and get some easy steals that resulted in 23 easy points,” DHS Lady Tigers head coach Tony Pittman said.
The Lady Tigers collected 21 steals on the night while shooting 19-of-50 from the floor (38 percent), 10-of-16 (76 percent) from the line and 2-of-13 (15 percent) from behind the arch.
“We were shooting that thing on Senior Night,” Pittman said.
The Lady Tigers were led by sophomore Shawnese Armstead with 15 points, 4 rebounds and 6 steals with Katria Johnson following with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.
