UWA women fall to North Alabama

FLORENCE, AL- Veronica Lee had a team-high 14 points to go along with five steals, but it would not be enough as West Alabama fell 70-57 to North Alabama (8-13, 2-7) on Monday night.
The Tigers connected on 10-of-34 shots (29.4 percent) in the first half, while the Lions made 12-of-28 shots (42.9 percent) to help gain a 32-24 lead at the half. The Lions continued to shoot well in the second half (52 percent) and North Alabama was able to hold on for the win.
Mallorie Kerby scored eight points for the Tigers while pulling down a game-high nine rebounds. Nikki Jones had eight points for UWA, while teammate Margo Porter contributed seven points and three assists. Lori Smith added four assists and four steals for West Alabama.
Joi Gopher scored a game-high 29 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Lions. Antoya Miller added 12 points and six assists for UNA, while teammate Jacklyn Nance had 11 points.
The Tigers (15-6, 7-2) return to action on Saturday when they host West Georgia for a 5:30 p.m. tip off.
