Demopolis High junior Chad Schroeder made his return to the mound Monday night after a five-year absence and picked up the eighth win of the season for the DHS Tigers.

Schroeder went six innings earning 4K’s, while giving up six hits and four walks as the Tigers take care of the visiting Thomasville Tigers 8-5.

“I was real impressed with Chad,” DHS head coach James Moody said. “I know it’s been a long time since he has pitched, but the kid has just got too much talent not to be pitching.”

The Tigers came out swinging the bats Monday night earning 10 hits early and forcing the visiting Tigers to seek help from their bullpen. Clarke Kerby was 3-for-4 with 3 RBI’s, while Devin Goodwin went 2-for-3 and both Schroeder and third basemen Seth Basinger went 2-for-4 on the night.

First baseman William Meador saw some time on the mound as well, coming in to shut down Thomasville in the seventh inning going three up and three down.

“Meador did a great job for us,” Moody said.

The Tigers will take their now (8-1) record on the road this week when they travel to Prattville for a double hitter on Saturday. The Tigers will face the 9-0 6A Prattville Lions at 11 a.m. and the Stanhope-Elmore Mustangs at 2 p.m.
