The Demopolis High School Drama Class will be performing “The Taming of the Shrew” by William Shakespeare next week. DHS Speech and Drama Teacher Jody Tartt White said this is the drama class’ project.

“This won’t be the original five act play, but an edited forty-five minute version,” White said.

She said the reason they decided to cut the play down was because it was so long and really just wanted to do the highlights. She also said her class of seniors is one of the best groups she’s ever had.

“This group of students has been working very hard to make sure they put on a good show,” White said.

She said the play would feature 10 students dressed in full costumes. She also said the performances will start on Wednesday, April 21 only for the high school, with all the proceeds going to the City Schools Foundation.

She said there would also be two performances for the general public on Thursday, April 22 and Friday, April 23 at 7 p.m. at the DHS auditorium.

“On behalf of the DHS Drama Class and myself, we would like to welcome all the Shakespeare lovers out there to come and enjoy a night of theatre,” White said.
