Tuscaloosa- Senior Kelly Keasler (7-3) struck out 17 batters in route to her first no-hitter of the season to lead the Demopolis High Lady Tigers to victory Saturday over Haleyville.

DHS scored two runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back. Senior Lauren Roark collected the Lady Tigers first run of the game when she singled with two outs and then scored on a double by senior Katie Simmons. Simmons would then score on a double by Kristin Etheridge to make it a 2-0 game.

With Keasler keeping the Lady Lions on a short leash, the Lady Tigers would then score five more runs in the fourth inning. Etheridge reached on an error to begin the inning, and after advancing on the play to second, she would score on a single by Brittany Thorne.

Thorne moved to second on an errant throw and then scored on a single by India Chancelor. Timie Lee then hit an infield single and Heather Wright would pick up an RBI with a ground out to first that would score Hunter Lewis (running for Chancelor). Lee would then move up on the play and score on a passed ball.

Dorothy Knapp would then walk and steal third to score on a base hit by Brittany McGee, extending the margin to 7-0.

The final runs of the contest came in the seventh inning. Knapp would single and steal second to start the frame. Roark singled, driving in Knapp and Simmons then moved Roark to third with a single of her own as Etheridge would pick up her second RBI of the contest with a single to complete the scoring.

Keasler limited the Winston County natives to just three base runners all day with one DHS error and two walks.

DHS (17-9) will return home on Tuesday to host Tuscaloosa County and then host Dallas County on Friday for a much needed area win. And on Saturday the Lady Tigers will travel to compete in the Northside Invitational.
