Coming form behind hasn’t been the norm this season for the 14-10 West Alabama Prep Titans, but in Tuesday’s pairing with the Pickens Academy Pirates the Titans made it look all to easy as they come from behind to pick up the 5-3 win.

Trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Titans fate laid just seven outs away. But with two outs and runners on first and second, junior Cody Key caught a curve ball on the tip of his bat that dropped in over the infield dirt into shy left-center field for a RBI double that would score two runs.

Senior pitcher Shane Hilchey took over from there and collected six easy outs, facing just eight batters in two innings, to seal the win. Hilchey (3-3) went seven innings earning 5K’s, while giving up three runs on six hits with four walks.

The Titians got out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, but quickly lost their grip on the Pirates in the second inning to trail 3-2. The Titans defense kept the Pirates from extending their lead through the next two innings.

Key along with nick Laduron led the way for the Titans at the plate Tuesday. Key went 2-for-3 with a double, while Laduron collected two singles and two stolen as he also went 2-for-3. Hilchey, along with senior Kevin May and senior Chad Seale had one hit apiece.

The Titans improve to (14-10) on the season and still clinging to an (7-0) area record with just one area game to go in the season. The Titans will travel to Lowndes Academy on Monday before retuning home for their last area game of the season with Central Christian Academy on Wednesday.
