LINDEN– An accident Thursday morning at a busy intersection in Linden took the life of a Bay Minette, Alabama man. A cruel twist to the incident found the man being killed on his birthday.
Clyde C. Tubberville, 76, was traveling in a pickup truck east on Highway 28 when he collided with a log truck, which was traveling south on Highway 43. The incident happened shortly after 11 a.m.
Debris from the wreckage hit a parked truck in front of a lawyer’s office located at the intersection, said Linden Public Safety Director Jeff Laduron.
Tubberville was dead at the scene. The driver of the log truck was not injured.
Officials from the Linden Police Department, Linden Volunteer Fire Department and the Marengo Fire and Rescue Squad responded. The “jaws of life” was used to extract Tubberville’s body from the crumpled truck.
Tubberville is the father of Larry Tubberville, owner of Doric South in Demopolis. His body was taken to the O’Bryant Funeral Chapel close to the wreck site and will likely be shipped back to Bay Minette.
Laduron expressed thanks for all the first responders who came to the scene of the tragic accident. He also thanked the Linden Street Department for quickly removing the debris from the scene so traffic could continue.
