An Ethelsville man was killed in an accident Sunday night on Highway 17 in Geider.

Clark Emerson Koehn, 48, of Ethelsville, died at approximately 8:37 p.m. when his vehicle slammed into the back of a parked truck on the highway.

A man was traveling south on Highway 17 when his semi-truck stalled out, said Sumter County Sheriff Johnny Hatter. He called for help, and a friend came to his aid to try to jump off the vehicle.

Koehn driving along the highway in the dark and rain Sunday night possibly did not see the two men working on the truck.

The semi-truck driver was injured and taken to a hospital. The man who came to his aid was not injured.
