The Chargers took a 1-0 lead scoring one run in the top of the first inning. The Tigers were held scoreless until the sixth inning when Dustin Roberts hit a three-run home run to put UWA up 3-1.
Alabama-Huntsville answered with two runs in the top of the seventh inning to tie the score at 3-3, before West Alabama added two runs in the bottom of the inning to go up 5-3. The Chargers managed one more run as the Tigers held on for the 5-4 victory.
Matt Chambless picked up the win for UWA, throwing 3.0 innings and allowing one earned run on four hits. Taylor Pontius took the loss for UAH, allowing five earned runs on six hits in 6.1 innings pitched.
Brandon Boles went 2-for-3 for the Tigers, while Scott Needs added a double. Jason Floyes went 1-for-3 with a triple and one RBI, while Randal Minton added one RBI.
Wes Long went 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI for the Chargers. Ryan Cox, Brett Dunlap and David Pressley added one hit and one RBI each.
The Tigers move to 32-21 on the season and await the loser of West Florida and Southern Arkansas.
