UWA holds graduation Saturday

LIVINGSTON-Saturday’s Commencement will be a day that will live on in the memories of 262 students at the University of West Alabama for the rest of their lives. The president of UWA Dr. Richard Holland said this year’s been a very good one for the university and its students.

“I would like to welcome any and all family and friends to attend the Commencement,” Holland said.

Commencement will be held in Pruitt Gym at 10:30 a.m. with a reception for parents and graduates from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. One of the major events at this year’s Commencement will be three of UWA’s professors will be awarded Emeritus status and they are Dr. Roy Underwood, Sharon Underwood, and Dr. Betty Cowan.

“These three professors are some of the best we’ve had at this institution,” Holland said.

UWA will also confer two honorary doctorates to Anne Athey Payne, Executive Director of the Alabama Agribusiness Council, and to Robert J. Romine, Vice Chancellor for Workforce Development and Adult Education for the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education.
