2000 MUNICIPAL ELECTION

The Demopolis City Election will be held Tuesday, August 22, 2000, with a runoff (if required) on Tuesday, September 12, 2000, from the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The Mayor will be elected citywide and one (1) City Councilman will be elected from each of the five (5) Districts.

At the time of the Election, you are a registered voter in Marengo County who has lived inside the Demopolis City Limits for at least thirty (30) days; you will be eligible to vote in the City Election.

Please find the location of your residence on the map inside and verify your name listed as living in that District.

If you are not listed or if you are listed in an incorrect District, please call this office promptly so that we may make the necessary corrections or additions prior to the Election.

If you registered to vote in Marengo County since the voter list herein was prepared, you will be listed on a supplemental voter list which will be prepared a week prior to the Election.

Voter Registration

All citizen of Demopolis or Marengo County are urged to register to vote and/or update their current voter registration status:

1.If you are 18 years of age or older and have never registered to vote you are urged to register.

2.If you have moved to and established a new residence in Demopolis and Marengo County you must re-register in the County of his or her residence.

3.If your name has changed due to marriage or divorce you are urged to update your voter registration.

4.If you have moved within the Demopolis and Marengo County area since you last registered regardless if the move was in your voting district or have moved to another voting district you are required to update your voter registration.

The Board of Registrars or City Hall may not register persons within 10 calendar days prior to a municipal election.

A Qualified voter may not have their name transferred from one polling place to another within 10 days of an election.

All candidates for the 2004 Municipal Election must have been residents of the municipality for at least 90 days prior to the Election. (May 26, 2004 deadline)

The Demopolis City Hall is an authorized agent to register any voters and assist in any change in your voter registration.
