Merchants get recognized for beautification

LINDEN-The Linden City Council presented five local merchants with Beautification Awards during the council meeting on Monday night.

The Mayor of Linden Pat Vice said these five business owners Dee Weaver of Pam’s Video, Carol Collins of Two of a Kind, Neisy Colen of Church’s Chicken, Jim Wicks of the Depot Inn, and J.C. Williams of Sunshine Cleaners were to be commended on helping the City of Linden continue to beautify their downtown area.

“These five merchants are just some of the wonderful people that we have running businesses in Linden,” Vice said.

Marengo County EMA Director Kevin McKinney may receive around $75,000 from the Federal Department of Home Land Security for Equipment. The funds if approved will be divided by the EMA with final approval from the State Home Land Security Director.

The available equipment has to be used for training. Below is a list of possible equipment that the police and fire departments could receive if the grant is approved.

2- 60 minute air packs valued @ $3692 each–$7,384

2- Spare 60 minute spare bottles @ $1149 each–$2,298

2- TV-VCR combo’s&Video Recorder–$1,428

12- Barricades-$2,148

7- First Aid Kits for police cars–$175

1- Bull Horn–$90
