DEMOPOLIS-With the fourth of July fast approaching, the Freedom on the River committee and its chairman Stephen Gutshall are excited to announce that it will again be hosting a “Patriotic Parade” as part of the FOTR festivities.
Gutshall said the parade will take place on Saturday, July 3 at 4:30 p.m. and will be the best one yet. He also said the parade route will begin on Main Avenue at the Old School and travel down Main to the City Landing Ballfield just as the ‘Best Burger in Bama’ competition kicks off.
“This is the second year for this event and we plan on making it the best one ever,” Gutshall said.
He said he is hopeful that more entries will be received over the next few weeks. He also said the committee is looking for things to toss off of the floats during the parade.
“This is a way to honor our military, both past and present, and the sacrifices they have made,” he explained, “What a wonderful way to kick off our Independence Day celebration.”
He said he wanted to invite all the residents of Demopolis and West Alabama to attend this wonderful event. He said if anyone would like to signup for any events please call the Demopolis Chamber of Commerce at (334) 289-0270.
