The Demopolis 14-year old Sub-District All-Star Tournament got under way Friday night at the SportsPlex in Demopolis, when the North Clark All-Stars took on the Fort Deposit All-Stars.

This year marked the first year that Linden has franchised with the Demopolis Dixie Boys to form an All-Star team. This year’s team consists of players from Demopolis, Greensboro, Linden, Livingston, Camden, Sumter County, Eutaw and Cuba.

The Linden team, sponsored by Papa’s IGA in Linden finished the regular season in first place, while the Demopolis team, sponsored by Green County Steam Generating finished second, Greensboro’s New Era Cap Company finished third and Demopolis’ Parr’s team finished fourth.

This weekend’s 14-year old double elimination Sub-District Tournament will feature All-Star teams Demopolis, North Clark and Fort Deposit.

Demopolis will get their first action on the diamond today at 7 p.m. when they take on Fort Deposit in Game 2 of the tournament.

Game 3 will feature the first match-up between the North Clark All-Stars and the Demopolis All-Stars on Sunday with a 2 p.m. starting time, followed by Game 4 on Monday at 7 p.m. and a Game 5 on Tuesday if necessary.
