The Demopolis 14-year old All-Stars would have no trouble finding a couple of wins in their Sub-District All-Star Tournament this weekend as they would take care of Fort Deposit on Saturday night by a score of 18-0, then go on to stick a 9-7 loss in North Clarke’s back pocket on Sunday afternoon to make them the only undefeated team to remain standing.
After a grueling 22-0 loss to North Clarke in Friday night’s first round action, Fort Deposit would find themselves eliminated by Saturday, as Demopolis would take a 18-0 win.
Phillip Farmer would get the win for Demopolis, as he went seven innings earning 10K’s, while giving up no runs on no hits with two walks.
At the plate it was Jason Fondreon leading for Demopolis with a two-run home run. In Sunday’s 9-7 win over North Clarke, Demopolis would see Drew Waldrop collect 5RBI’s, while Scott Cannon would go six-and-one-third innings collecting 12K’s on the hill and 4RBI’s at the plate.
Cannon would give up four runs before Chris Whitaker would close the door on North Clarke collecting 3K’s in the bottom of the seventh to end it.
North Clarke and Demopolis were scheduled to match-up Monday night in Game 4 of the tournament, but due to a rain-delayed start, no score would be available at press time.
