Mrs. Rosa Wright, of Coatopa, Alabama passed Sunday, June 28, 2004 at Bryan Whitfield Hospital. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 3, 2004 at 12:00 Noon at Bethel Pine Baptist Church, Coatopa, Alabama.

Rev. Floyd O. Bell will officiate.

The remains will repose at the church on Saturday beginning at

11:00 a.m.

Mr. Clarence Scott, of Demopolis, Alabama passed Saturday, June 27, 2004 at Bryan Whitfield Hospital.

Mrs. Susie Thomas-Mix,

age 97 of Newbern, Alabama passed June 21, 2004 at Bryan Whitfield Hospital.

Funeral Services were held Saturday, June 26, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, Newbern, Alabama.

Rev. S.P. Powell officiated.

Interment followed in Thomas Family Cemetery, Newbern, Alabama.

She was a retired educator with the Hale County Board Of Education.

Survivors include a loving&devoted sister, Bessie Hunter of Faunsdale, Alabama; a god-daughter, Charity Paige of Newbern, AL; four nieces, Dorothy (Clayton) Williams, Alexandria, LA, Doris (Weston) Metcalf, Muscle Shoals, AL, Susie (William) Marks and Edmonia (Herbert) Pickens both of Greensboro, AL; two devoted great nieces, Shirley Morris of Fairfield, AL and Barbara Ward of Newport News, VA; a host of other great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Joe Jackson, age 68 of Faunsdale, Alabama passed June 20, 2004 at D.C.H. Regional Medical Center, Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Funeral Services were held Saturday, June 26, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at Larkin&Scott Chapel.

Rev. Clifford Coleman officiated.

Interment followed in Grayer’s Cemetery, Faunsdale, Alabama.

Ms. Kenisha L. Longmire, age 27 of Boligee, Alabama passed June 22, 2004 as the result of injuries sustained in a automobile accident in Boligee, Alabama.

Funeral Services were held Monday, June 28, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Little Zion Baptist Church, Boligee, Alabama.

Rev. Willis Gulley officiated.

Interment followed in Longmire Cemetery, Boligee, Alabama.

Mr. George R. Smith, Jr., age 73 of Demopolis died Tuesday June 29, 2004 at Northport Medical Center. Graveside services will be Thursday, July 1, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Newbern Cemetery with Dr. Arthur Luckie officiating. Kidd Robbins Funeral Directors directing. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Carolyn Walthall Smith of Demopolis; two daughters, Laurice Claire Smith of Prattville and Lynn Smith Parker of Birmingham, and a granddaughter, Abigail Lillian Parker of Birmingham. He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. George Roe Smith, Sr. and his brother, Dr. Winston Smith.

Mr. Smith was a native of Demopolis and a graduate of the school of commerce and a member of the Kappa Alpha Order at the University of Alabama and served in the United States Air Force.

He was a charter member of Demopolis Jaycees, served on the Board of Adjustment, and the Utility Board, Sunday School Superintendent, and President of the Methodist Men’s Club. He was

on the Black Warrior Council of the Black Warrior Council of the Boy Scouts of America as Prairie District Chairman. He also received the District Award of Merit.
