Students Honored

Dr. John A. Johnson, president of Alabama Southern Community College, recently announced the recipients of scholarships for 2004.

Felecha Ravizee, a 2004 graduate of A.L. Johnson High School, has received an Academic Leadership Scholarship. She is the daughter of Ms. Eloise Ravizee. (Photo unavailable)

Clay Tew, a 2004 graduate of Marengo Academy, has received an Academic Leadership Scholarship. He is the son of Brady L. Tew of Demopolis and Patricia P. Tew of Linden.

Walking Tours End

This weekend will be your last chance to catch the “Saturday Walking Tour” series that is being sponsored by the Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce and the Alabama Bureau of Tourism and Travel.

The tour series began on May 29 and will culminate with the final tour this weekend on July 3. Saturday’s tour begins at 10 a.m. from Demopolis City Hall. It will focus on the Downtown Historic District and will last approximately one hour.

There is no admission fee for the tour, and it will be guided by Kelley Smith, events and tourism coordinator for the Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce.

Prince Benefit

There will be a benefit program for Ms. Mary Lynn Prince on Saturday, July 10, 2004, at 6 p.m. at St. Matthew AME Church, located at 1002 Morse Street in Greensboro.
