FOOTBALL

UWA KICKOFF DINNER – The University of West Alabama has announced its annual Kickoff Dinner for Saturday, July 24. The dinner is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and will be held in the Bell Conference Center on the UWA campus.

Georgia Tech Offensive Line Coach Joe D’Alessandris will be the guest speaker.

D’Alessandris was the offensive line coach at West Alabama (then Livingston University) from 1979-83. He joined the Yellow Jacket staff in 2002 after a five-year stint coaching the offensive line at Duke University.

He has also had coaching stints at the University of Pittsburgh (1996), Texas A&M (1994), and with the Memphis Mad Dogs of the Canadian Football League and the World League Birmingham team.

D’Alessandris, 48, was a four-year letterman at Western Carolina.

Tickets can be purchased for $35 in advance and $40 at the door, with $30 of the cost of each ticket being tax deductible.

A ticket includes a catfish dinner, a silent auction of sports collectibles, great door prizes and a chance to purchase 2004 UWA season tickets.

CHRIS BONIOL KICKING&PUNTING CAMP – Retired NFL Place Kicker Chris Boniol will conduct his kicking and punting camp July 14 and July 15 at Baldwin County High School in Bay Minnette, AL.

Boniol, a six-year NFL place-kicker, was a member of the Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl XXX Championship team.

Boniol’s Kicking and Punting Camps are considered two separate one-day camps. Camp prices are $175 per person or $300 for both days.

Both camps will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are open to all kids ages seven through college.

SOFTBALL

Men’s and Women’s Softball Tournament – The 4th Annual II Cocky Men’s and Women’s Softball Tournmanet is July 31 – August 1 in Greensboro. First-, second- and third-place trophies will be awarded.
