DEMOPOLIS – The 24-11 West Alabama post #29 American Legion seniors had plenty of ping, but not enough sting Thursday night, as they fell 5-2 to the visiting Bryan Packers.

West Alabama collected a total of eight hits against the Packers Thursday night, but could only muster two runs. Defensively, West Alabama was sharp, with some outstanding plays from Devin Goodwin, Matt Busbee and Clarke Kerby. But at the plate it was a different story.

Although West Alabama would out hit Bryan 8-7, they would lose 5-2. Leading the way for West Alabama would be Clint Moody along with Busbee, as both would go 2-for-4 with two singles apiece. Busbee would score a run on a Blake Butler sacrifice fly, while Moody would pick up an RBI himself, scoring Goodwin.

Following Busbee and Moody would be Kerby (1-for-2) along with G. W. Washington and William Meador, both going 1-for-3 on the night.

On the mound for West Alabama would be Matt Crenshaw, going a complete seven innings giving up five runs on seven hits with one walk, while earning 4K’s.

Next up for West Alabama will be a quick trip to Andalusia on Saturday before returning home on Sunday to host the Wireglass Cardinals. That game is set to start at 1 p.m.

Results of game two with Bryan was not available at press time.
