Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Anita R. Taylor, daughter of Betty and Frank Taylor of Jefferson, Ala., recently was promoted to her current rank while serving aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Saipan, home ported in Norfolk, Va.

Taylor was promoted based on sustained superior job performance and proficiency in her designated specialty.

Taylor is a 1998 graduate of John Essex High School of Demopolis, Ala. and joined the Navy in February 2001.
